Overview
Rail Mounted Container Gantry Crane
Rail mounted container gantry cranes are rail-traveling cranes designed primarily for container handling, loading/unloading, and stacking operations in container terminals and intermodal yards.
Key Features
Intro
The Rail Mounted Container Gantry Crane (RMG) is a specialized gantry crane designed for container terminals, rail freight stations, and large logistics yards. It operates along fixed rails and is powered by electrical cable systems, usually through cable reels. This crane is equipped with telescopic spreaders (20′, 40′, 45′), and in some configurations, dual spreaders for more efficient stacking and movement of standard ISO containers.
The crane system consists of a steel gantry frame, hoisting mechanism, trolley traveling mechanism, crane traveling mechanism, container spreader with anti-sway technology, and an integrated electrical control system. It is typically operated via a driver’s cabin but can also support semi-automated or fully automated control depending on site needs.
There are three structural variants depending on operational requirements: cantilever on one side, both sides, or no cantilever.
RMG cranes are known for clean electric drive, large lifting capacity, stable performance, high efficiency, and low maintenance.
advantages
- High Load Capacity: Engineered to handle heavy-duty containers of various sizes and weights.
- Advanced Automation: Can be integrated with yard automation systems for unmanned operation, enhancing efficiency and reducing labor cost.
- Accurate Positioning: Equipped with a PLC system for precise container placement, ensuring safe and efficient loading/unloading.
